A Caring Approach for the Voluntary Sector

our therapies

VISIT offers a wide range of complementary therapies including:

Reflexology - based on the principle that reflex points/zones on the feet correspond with systems, organs, glands and structures in the body. Pressure techniques are applied to the reflex points and any reflex imbalances can be detected. This can produce a reaction in the corresponding part of the body, releasing tension, stimulating the body’s own healing process and inducing a state of relaxation.

Clinical Aromatherapy - a selection of essential oils (from the pure properties of plants) can be used most effectively in therapeutic massage to relieve stress and tension and relieve aches and pains. Each blend is created specifically to meet the individual’s needs to help physical and/or psychological symptoms and their therapeutic properties can help to restore harmony and balance of the mind, body and emotions.

Holistic Massage - aids relaxation and helps to alleviate aches and pains by working specific muscle groups and triggering the release of the body’s natural pain killers. Various therapeutic massage techniques can be used with gentle joint mobilisation to help improve circulation and flexibility. Massage can also be carried out through clothing which is less invasive for some individuals.

Reiki - an 'energy therapy' which works on the idea that the body contains lines or ‘meridians’ of energy that can become blocked. By focusing on the 12 energy centres in the body, obstacles to wellbeing can be unblocked so that energy and awareness are enhanced. Reiki is carried out fully clothed.

Indian Head Massage- based on an ancient Indian healing system that can promote relaxation, help concentration and relieve tension headaches. It focuses on the upper back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp and is carried out fully clothed. This can leave you feeling deeply relaxed and de-stressed.
